VBS in the Mountains

Well it is 10:30 PM and I am just now getting to post about our VBS day.
We have had a wonderful day, starting at 9:00 this morning with our VBS.
We came prepared for 50 kids but have 21. ( including Logan and Lana).
Trust me, 21 is all we can handle! Jeanny has a group of 11 kids, and then an Indian lady that works at the Boys and girls club has the other 9 kids. Those 9 kids are our challenge for the week! Then we have My Mom, her pastor and his wife, and another lady, plus Mary and me.

It was amazing this morning to have 21 kids and go through 30 name tags. Within 5 minutes several kids had literally torn up their name tags and thought it was funny.
When we started those same kids would not sing, did not want to be with us, and overall weren't very happy to be there.
However, I am happy to report that by noon those same kids where actually smiling and thought the "test tube beakers" where pretty cool, and actually said thank you when I gave them their Bible buddies.
Jesus gives us the Power to be Thankful, and today I am thankful that we have 21 great kids to work with that are really soaking up what we are doing.
Most of these kids are raised around at least some sort of "religion". It is my desire this week that they will really begin to learn that Jesus truly is amazing and wants to be more than something they do on Sundays.

Please pray for the kids the rest of the week as we continue to build relationships and show them in our words and deeds Jesus Miraculous Power!

And on a personal note, we are having a great time. Today we decided to go across the mountain and get hot dogs for dinner. 5 hours later we returned. That is the fun and beauty of this place. We drove an hour to get a hot dog and then stopped at some waterfalls on the way back. Plus we saw an amazing sunset from 5000 feet above Sea level going through the Cherohala Skyway.
It was a great reminder of our "God of Wonders".
Mary and Jeanny are having a great time and I think are ready to stay up here indefinetly.
My car is still sitting in Cleveland TN waiting till we can pick it up on Saturday.
Oh the joys of living in the age of automobiles.

Thanks for praying for us and for the kids.
Tomorrow is Logans birthday and we look forward to taking him and one of the Indian boys that he has made buddies with over the years, out to Fontana Resort for a pool party.
And we look forward to a great day of learning that Jesus gives us the power to help others!!!
